Studios
Our studio at 40 St Benedicts Street is fully equipped with state of the art equipment and is ideal for teaching one or two clients at a time. We also have an open plan studio at 125 Grafton Rd with a large range of pilates equipment where we teach both individual and group sessions.

What We Offer
At the physio pilates studio we provide safe and effective exercise for people of all ages. Pilates is appropriate for a gradual return to exercise following an injury or period of inactivity, as well as being an ideal form of exercise to participate in for cross-training in the athletic population and throughout all three trimesters of pregnancy.  The exercises are individually tailored to suit you, and the moving surfaces and varying resistances of the equipment means your exercises can be taken to a more advanced level for increased challenge and enjoyment or made easier to suit your needs.

The Process
The physio pilates studio embraces the essence of what Pilates offers in a comprehensive way, combining both the clinical experience of our rehabilitation team, with the fitness and movement experience of our instructors. During a private individual session you will learn techniques to understand the fundamentals of the Pilates approach and your exercises will help you gain awareness of how you can move more efficiently and improve your posture.

Lifestyle Option
We also offer Pilates as a lifestyle option. Individual sessions are the ideal way to start Pilates and many people continue with this private tuition. Another option is to continue with Pilates with a variety of group sessions offered at our Grafton studio. We can help you to find the most appropriate long term combination of individual, small group sessions and/or classes to maintain your strength and flexibility and maximise your health and well being.

Our Values
Our philosophy is to create an enjoyable and positive movement experience for you, within a relaxing and holistic environment conducive to movement and manual therapy.

Nicola Tyler
Nicola Tyler trained and worked as a physiotherapist before doing post graduate training to specialize in musculoskeletal work.  She then ran her own physiotherapy practice for twelve years. During this time Nicola became more interested in preventative health care and started practising Pilates herself.

This led her to a more preventative, holistic and educative role as a Pilates Instructor.  With years of experience treating a wide range of problems as a physiotherapist Nicola embraced the total system of Pilates. Nicola trained and qualified with Polestar International and worked in a Pilates studio for three years before starting the physio pilates studio in Grafton in 2003. Her physiotherapy background and musculoskeletal expertise brings a depth of knowledge to her teaching.

Nicola teaches a wide variety of people, but specializes in teaching those rehabilitating from injuries or chronic musculoskeletal problems. She also has a following of loyal clients who have been coming to her for years. Nicola finds the rewards of facilitating people to find better awareness and movement in their bodies through doing Pilates very rewarding.

Nicola has been to several international Pilates conferences and enjoys the stimulation of learning from Pilates teachers from all around the world. She also finds it very stimulating to work alongside and share ideas with the committed team at  the physio pilates studio.

Ree O'Hagan
Anne-Marie (Ree) studied Physiotherapy at Otago University in Dunedin (95-99) before entering the public health system as a Graduate Physiotherapist at North Shore Hospital in Auckland.  After discovering the Pilates Method as a way of managing her own spinal condition and achieve personal health & well-being goals, she moved into Private Practice Physiotherapy and Pilates studio work where she has been ever since.

She has worked extensively with the Pilates system both here and overseas over the past 8 years, combining it with her Physiotherapy training and focussing on sports specific rehabilitation, complex spinal conditions, body awareness and integration, as well as using it for fun, fitness, and preventative health & well-being! After studying Ayurvedic Lifestyle consulting, Ree began to integrate Ayurvedic principles into her own life, and saw the benefit of combining the best of both Eastern & Western healing techniques into her practice.
